Use the video below for guidance on connecting the AlphaESS WIFI dongle to your home Wi-Fi network. When customers change Internet providers or routers, this guidance should be followed to connect the Alpha Inverter back to the new Wi-Fi router.
Things to Avoid with Wi-Fi:
Don't use 5GHz networks: Ensure you're connecting to a 2.4GHz network, as the Alpha ESS dongle does not support 5GHz.
Avoid weak signals: Ensure that the dongle is within range of your 2.4GHz network for a stable connection.
Don't use special characters in your Wi-Fi name: Some devices may have trouble with certain special characters in the SSID.
Avoid mesh systems: It is recommended to avoid using mesh systems for Alpha ESS devices, as they can introduce connectivity issues and are not always compatible with all features of the dongle.
Internet Connection Stability
Use a Wi-Fi Network Scanner: To confirm that you have a strong signal, consider using a Wi-Fi network scanner tool. These tools can help you analyse nearby wireless networks, providing information about signal strength, channel congestion, and overall network quality. This can assist you in ensuring that your Alpha ESS dongle is receiving an adequate signal for optimal performance.
If you encounter connection drop out issues: Consider moving your router closer to the Alpha ESS system or using a Wi-Fi extender specifically designed for 2.4GHz networks to enhance connectivity in that area.
