Build battery capacity around your home.

SMILE-G3 battery modules store available solar or lower-cost grid electricity so it can be used around your household needs, tariff strategy and configured energy priorities.

An authorised installer will assess consumption, generation, available space, compatible equipment and backup requirements before recommending the appropriate capacity and configuration.
AlphaESS SMILE-G3

Choose capacity around your energy needs

AlphaESS SMILE-G3 battery modules can be configured around different household energy requirements. Your authorised installer will assess electricity use, solar generation, tariff strategy, available space and compatible system equipment before recommending a battery arrangement.

Battery compatibility, module quantity, total system capacity and installation method vary according to the selected inverter and complete system design. An authorised AlphaESS installer will confirm the appropriate configuration for the property.

SMILE-G3-BAT-4.0S

A 4.0 kWh LFP battery module with 3.8 kWh stated usable capacity. Its smaller capacity step provides flexibility when designing storage around modest household demand or building capacity incrementally within a compatible SMILE-G3 system.

SMILE-G3-BAT-4.8S

A 4.8 kWh LFP battery module with 4.56 kWh stated usable capacity. Wall-mounted and optional base installation arrangements provide flexibility when designing an appropriately sized, compatible SMILE-G3 home energy system.

SMILE-G3-BAT-9.6S

A 9.6 kWh LFP battery module with 9.3 kWh stated usable capacity. Its larger capacity step suits compatible SMILE-G3 configurations designed for higher household electricity use, solar generation or planned energy requirements.

SMILE-G3-BAT-10.1P

A 10.1 kWh LFP battery module with 9.6 kWh stated usable capacity. Designed for compatible parallel configurations, it provides a higher-capacity starting point for households requiring greater storage capacity within an appropriately designed system.

WHY MODULAR CAPACITY MATTERS

Capacity designed around real demand

SMLE-G3 Modular design
Make more use of generated energy
Store available solar that might otherwise be exported
Shift electricity use
Charge at selected times and use stored energy when grid prices are higher, subject to tariff and system settings.
Plan for changing demand
An approved modular design can provide a route for future expansion where the selected product, age, condition and configuration permit it.
How much capacity do I need?
There is no single household answer. Good sizing considers half-hourly or daily consumption, solar generation, seasonal use, tariff strategy, high-load appliances, EV charging, backup expectations and budget. Oversizing can add cost without creating proportional value.
SAFETY BY DESIGN

Protection from cell monitoring to system control

  • LFP battery chemistry for the listed SMILE-G3 modules.
  • Battery management monitoring of cell voltage, current and temperature.
  • Product-specific aerosol safety provisions and pressure-relief features for SMILE-G3-BAT-4.8S and SMILE-G3-BAT-9.6S modules.
  • System monitoring, visibility through the AlphaESS App and commissioning by an authorised AlphaESS installer.

Design battery storage around your home

Battery capacity should be selected as part of the complete home energy system. An authorised AlphaESS installer can assess your property, electricity use, solar generation and future plans before recommending a compatible configuration.

Installed as part of a complete system

An approved installer must assess battery location, mounting, clearances, protection, cable routes, temperature, network connection and commissioning. The product's IP rating does not remove the need for a suitable site.

Once commissioned, homeowners can use the AlphaESS App to view system performance and configured energy flows. AlphaCloud access and available functions depend on the system, account type and approved support route.

FAQs
Can I add another battery later?

Additional capacity may be possible, but compatibility must be checked first. The installer will consider the inverter, battery model, existing module age and condition, permitted configuration and overall system limits before recommending an expansion.

Can batteries be installed outdoors?

Some listed SMILE-G3 battery modules carry an IP65 rating, but this does not make every outdoor location suitable. Temperature, exposure, mounting, clearances, protection and cable routes must be assessed by an authorised AlphaESS installer.

What does usable capacity mean?

Rated energy describes the stated total energy capacity of the battery. Usable capacity is the portion available within the product’s operating limits and specified test conditions.

Does a larger battery always save more?

No. The value provided by a larger battery depends on household consumption, solar generation, electricity tariffs, charging opportunities and how frequently the stored energy is used. Appropriate system sizing is more important than selecting the largest available battery.
