Solar Battery Storage and Site-Wide Backup at Gosford Pines
Three parallel AlphaESS H50 systems deliver 150 kW of nominal output and provide 361.5 kWh of battery storage capacity.
Case Study: Farm Battery Storage and Energy Security
Gosford Pines needed an energy system that could better use solar generation while supporting agricultural operations during grid outages.
Working with energy storage specialist Immersa and installer Flex Eco Services, the project combines three AlphaESS STORION-G3-H50 systems with an AlphaESS Parallel Back-Up Box. Together, the battery systems provide 150 kW of combined nominal output and 361.5 kWh of storage capacity.
Designed to provide site-wide backup, the installation complements a new 321 kWp solar PV array, including 214 kWp DC-coupled to the battery system. The result is an integrated energy solution that increases solar self-consumption, reduces reliance on imported electricity, and strengthens operational resilience.
150 kW / 361.5 kWh AlphaESS STORION-G3-50 installation designed to combine solar energy management with site-wide backup at Gosford Pines.
Primary objective: Integrate solar and battery storage with site-wide backup capability
This project demonstrates how Immersa helps installer partners deliver more than just battery storage. By supporting Flex Eco Services with the latest AlphaESS technology and technical expertise, we enabled a solution that combines renewable energy optimisation with complete site resilience.

The Challenge: Managing Energy Costs and Maintaining Farm Operations
For agricultural businesses, a reliable electricity supply is essential to everyday operations. Gosford Pines needed a solution that could support two priorities: using more on-site renewable electricity and maintaining power during grid interruptions.
The new solar PV installation created an opportunity to reduce electricity imports. However, solar generation does not always coincide with demand. Battery storage would allow the site to retain surplus generation for use when it needed it.
Resilience was equally important. Rather than limiting backup to a small number of essential circuits, the project brief called for a system designed to support the whole site during an outage.
The solution therefore needed to:
Increase self-consumption of on-site solar generation.
Reduce reliance on imported grid electricity.
Provide backup capability across the site.
Retain flexibility for future energy requirements.
The Solution: Three Parallel AlphaESS H50 Systems
The installation combines three AlphaESS STORION-G3-H50 commercial battery systems, each providing 50 kW of nominal output and 120.5 kWh of storage capacity.
Operating in parallel, the systems provide a combined 150 kW of nominal output and 361.5 kWh of battery storage. This configuration brings together the power capability needed to support site demand and the storage capacity needed to retain energy for later use.
Of the site’s 321 kWp solar PV installation, 214 kWp is DC-coupled to the battery system. This integrates a substantial proportion of the solar array directly with the storage platform, supporting the capture and management of renewable generation.
The AlphaESS Parallel Back-Up Box completes the configuration, enabling the parallel battery systems to support the project’s site-wide backup design.
Site-Wide Backup Designed Around Agricultural Needs
The Parallel Back-Up Box enables the installed battery systems to work together within the site’s backup arrangement.
This lets stored energy support farm operations during a grid interruption, while the system continues its everyday role in managing solar generation. Backup capability was a defining requirement at Gosford Pines.
Site-wide backup describes the scope of the installation’s electrical design. Available backup power and operating duration depend on connected demand, battery charge and the commissioned system configuration.
By incorporating backup into the wider solar and storage project, Gosford Pines has an energy system designed around both daily energy management and operational resilience.
Specialist Engineering and Installation
The project brings together AlphaESS battery technology, Immersa’s energy storage expertise and Flex Eco Services’ installation capabilities. Immersa supported delivery through engineering input, battery supply, technical integration guidance and commissioning services. Its involvement helped coordinate the commercial storage systems and backup equipment within the wider energy installation.
Flex Eco Services undertook the installation, working alongside Immersa to deliver the solution for Gosford Pines. This collaboration shows the value of combining specialist system integration with experienced installation partners to deliver commercial solar, storage and backup projects.
Benefits of the Integrated System
The installation gives Gosford Pines a platform for managing renewable electricity while strengthening its ability to respond to grid interruptions.
Greater use of solar generation Battery storage enables surplus solar electricity to be retained for later use, helping align renewable generation with the farm’s energy demand.
Reduced reliance on electricity imports Using stored solar energy can reduce the need to purchase electricity from the grid when generation is lower or site demand increases.
Site-wide backup capability The parallel battery systems and dedicated backup equipment provide a configuration designed to support operations across the site during outages.
Flexibility for changing requirements The modular H50 platform offers scope for future expansion, subject to technical assessment and the approved system configuration.
A Practical Example of Commercial Energy Resilience
Gosford Pines shows how commercial battery storage can do more than manage energy.
By combining a substantial solar installation with three parallel AlphaESS STORION-G3-H50 systems and dedicated backup equipment, the project delivers a coordinated solution that integrates renewable energy utilisation and site resilience.
