Meet the UK Technical Team Behind AlphaESS at Solar & Storage Live 2026

Led by Andy Bailey, discover the UK-based technical expertise supporting AlphaESS installers, partners and energy storage projects nationwide.

With just one month to go until Solar & Storage Live UK 2026, AlphaESS UK is turning the spotlight on some of the people behind its products, projects and installer support.
Taking place at the NEC Birmingham from 22 to 24 September 2026, Solar & Storage Live brings together installers, distributors, developers, energy professionals and technology providers from across the country.

Visitors to the AlphaESS UK stand, C18, will be able to explore our latest residential, commercial and utility-scale energy storage solutions, discuss upcoming projects and meet members of our UK team.

One of the people on hand throughout the show will be Andy Bailey, who heads the AlphaESS UK technical function. However, Andy will not be working alone. Every conversation, product demonstration and technical answer is backed by an experienced UK-based team supporting AlphaESS installers and partners across the country.

Global Energy Storage Technology, Backed by UK Expertise

Choosing the right battery energy storage system is only part of a successful project. Installers and partners also need access to knowledgeable people who understand the products, the realities of working on site and the importance of getting the right answer quickly.AlphaESS UK provides technical support across the complete project lifecycle, from system specification and design through to wiring, commissioning, firmware, monitoring, remote diagnostics and complex fault-finding.

The team works across AlphaESS residential and commercial systems, supporting individual home installations as well as more complex commercial and industrial battery storage projects.

While Andy meets installers and partners at Solar & Storage Live, the wider technical team will continue doing what they do every day, supporting AlphaESS systems and customers throughout the UK.

Andy mentors and trains AlphaESS UK’s support engineers, works with partners to specify commercial and industrial projects and oversees product compliance across the AlphaESS UK range.
Four years into his AlphaESS journey, Andy has developed extensive knowledge of the complete product ecosystem, from residential battery storage through to more complex commercial and industrial applications.
At Solar & Storage Live UK 2026, Andy will be available to answer technical questions, discuss upcoming projects and help installers identify the right AlphaESS solution for their requirements.

Behind Andy is a team combining practical installation experience with specialist knowledge of commissioning, wiring, software, firmware, remote monitoring and fault analysis.

Joe Riley - Technical Support Engineer

“As a former installer, I know exactly what it feels like to be on site with a problem. That is what drives me.”

Joe’s background as an installer gives him a valuable understanding of the pressures faced on site. He knows that installers need practical answers that help them commission systems quickly, confidently and correctly.
His experience allows him to view technical questions from the installer’s perspective and provide guidance grounded in the realities of installation.

One word: Open-minded

Specialism: System wiring and commercial commissioning
Fun fact: Joe was born in Spain and speaks fluent Spanish, which can occasionally prove useful when troubleshooting takes an international turn.

Lewis Hall - Technical Support Engineer

“No two days are the same. I could be commissioning a commercial system in the morning and troubleshooting a residential installation that afternoon.”

Lewis supports AlphaESS customers throughout the complete project lifecycle, from initial system design through to commissioning and aftersales support.
He has particular expertise in commercial and industrial battery storage and is one of AlphaESS UK’s most experienced technical specialists on the G3-H30/H50 range.
Whether supporting a complex commercial project or helping resolve a residential installation issue, Lewis brings the same persistent and practical approach.

Region: UK-wide
Specialism: Commercial and industrial BESS, including the AlphaESS G3-H30/H50 range
Fun fact: Lewis helps run matchdays at Slimbridge AFC. He is equally comfortable commissioning eight battery storage systems in parallel and managing a busy non-league football crowd.

Eddie Yam - Support Technician

“I try to diagnose and resolve issues remotely wherever possible. Saving an installer an unnecessary site visit is a win in itself.”

Eddie is the team’s remote troubleshooting specialist, using system monitoring and performance data to diagnose faults and resolve software issues.
By identifying and addressing problems remotely wherever possible, Eddie helps installers receive answers more quickly while reducing unnecessary return visits to site.
His methodical approach also helps the team monitor outstanding cases and ensure technical issues continue moving towards a resolution.

Specialism: Software, remote diagnostics and data analysis
Fun fact: Eddie treats everyday problems as puzzles waiting to be solved. The troubleshooting rarely stops when he logs off.

Jacek Wiatr - Senior Technical Support Engineer

“If a system is not behaving as expected, I am usually the one figuring out why and getting it working again.”

Jacek investigates battery and inverter faults, communication issues and system performance data to identify the root cause of technical problems.
His persistent approach helps installers save valuable time on site and gets customers’ systems operating correctly again as quickly as possible.
From unusual system behaviour to more complex communication faults, Jacek digs into the available information until he understands what is happening and how to resolve it.
One word: Persistent

Specialism: Battery storage troubleshooting and fault analysis
Fun fact: Jacek spends almost as much time analysing his cycling performance data as he does investigating battery system data.

Shamr Angell - Helpdesk Technical Support

“A good day is when the issue is resolved within the first ten minutes of the call, the installer feels supported, and I know I have done my job.”

Shamr is often the first member of the technical team a new customer speaks to. He helps installers and system owners become confident with AlphaESS systems and the AlphaCloud app from the outset.

Firmware is one of his main areas of expertise, with reconnecting offline systems among the most common technical challenges he tackles.
His patient approach helps ensure customers understand what is happening, what needs to be done and how their system should operate once the issue has been resolved.

Fun fact: Colleagues say Shamr sounds like Darth Vader on the telephone. He takes it as a compliment.
