Can you tell us about the origins of your company and the key services you offer? How did you venture into the field of renewable energy, specifically battery energy storage systems?

MOVR Solar was founded to bridge the gap between technology and people. After more than 16 years working across solar PV, hybrid systems and large-scale renewable projects, from MW-scale solar parks in the Middle East to Innovate UK-funded research into flexible PV applications, the company’s founder, Zaki, identified a recurring issue: customers were often investing in systems they didn’t fully understand.

That insight shaped MOVR Solar’s direction. The business was built around a clear set of principles, placing education before installation, ensuring full transparency in system design, and maintaining a hands-on, collaborative approach with every customer, creating a more informed, confident and engaged journey into renewable energy.

of company and your team?

We are a young, dynamic team of professionals, supported by deep expertise in the solar research and development sector. This combination allows us to deliver innovative, reliable solutions while maintaining a personal, customer-focused approach.

Our showroom concept enables customers to interact with live solar and battery systems before committing, giving them a clear understanding of how their investment will perform in real-world conditions. Alongside this, we are developing an open-air training platform to upskill the next generation of installers, recognising that building a sustainable future depends as much on developing people as it does on advancing technology.

In which geographical areas do you primarily operate, and what would you say are people’s attitudes, both home and commercial, to renewable energy?

MOVR Solar primarily operates in Greater London and Surrey, focusing on home and semi-commercial projects. High-quality, future-proof installations that reduce carbon emissions while delivering long-term reliability.

Could you describe your typical customer? How do you tailor your services to meet the diverse needs of residential, commercial, and industrial clients?

Our typical customer is an environmentally conscious homeowner seeking to reduce their carbon footprint and manage rising electricity costs. They value quality and reliability over quick savings, want to understand their system, and often consider or own an EV. Many are professionals, families, or property owners aiming for energy independence and resilience. We also work with builders and developers to expand our reach and ensure quality installations.

Can the UK hit its Net Zero targets? If you were energy minister for the UK, what would you be doing?

MOVR Solar is a part of the Innovate UK Business Connect Net Zero Supplier directory. There is a need to bring all stakeholders together to find a pragmatic way to design renewable solutions that meet targets with sustainable deliverables, and to review them annually to improve delivery.

Looking ahead, how do you see renewable energy and battery energy storage evolving in the UK’s energy landscape? What are your company’s plans for growth and adaptation in this changing environment?

Storage is going to be the next big thing as we address our growing energy needs, whilst optimising power networks by distributing peak energy usage into more stable usage without the need to significantly increase the capacity of UK grid infrastructure.
