Meet EcoSheffield, an AlphaESS Battery Energy storage Authorised Installer based in Yorkshire.

Can you tell us about the origins of your company and the key services you offer? How did you venture into the field of renewable energy, specifically battery energy storage systems?

Founded by Sam Arundell and Kyle Morton, EcoSheffield keeps high-quality renewable energy installations local and affordable. With over 16 years of combined experience in installation, technical support, and wholesale, we design solar and battery systems that are genuinely tailored to each customer's specific needs. We use smart digital tools to offer instant, fixed-price quotes, backed by expert local service. No pushy sales, just honest advice, great value and systems that work for you.

Please provide some information around the size
of company and your team?

We’re a small, highly skilled team of local renewable specialists who utilise the best local roofers and electricians, proudly serving Sheffield and the surrounding areas. No call centres and no cutting corners. Just honest advice, expert workmanship and real local service.

In which geographical areas do you primarily operate, and what would you say are people’s attitudes, both home and commercial, to renewable energy?

We primarily serve the Sheffield area and its surrounding regions, with installations also extending across Yorkshire and the wider region. While we’re local at heart, our reputation is growing nationally. We’ve seen a clear shift in both homeowners and businesses; more people are turning to solar and battery storage not just to save money, but to gain independence from rising and unpredictable energy costs. The recent energy crisis has made renewable energy not just a smart choice, but a necessary one.

Could you describe your typical customer? How do you tailor your services to meet the diverse needs of residential, commercial, and industrial clients?

EcoSheffield serves a diverse mix of homeowners, businesses and commercial property owners, but they all have one thing in common: they want reliable, high-quality renewable solutions from a trusted local team. Whether it’s a family looking to cut household bills, or a business aiming to reduce overheads and carbon footprint, we tailor every system to fit the property, usage and budget. No one-size-fits-all packages, just smart, efficient systems built around real needs and installed to the highest standards.

What motivated your decision to partner with AlphaESS UK for battery energy storage solutions? How has this partnership enhanced the value you provide to your customers?

At EcoSheffield, we partner with suppliers who share our commitment to quality, reliability and long-term value. That’s why we chose AlphaESS for our battery storage solutions. Their systems have proven to be robust, efficient, and cost-effective, consistently performing well in both testing and real-world installations. This partnership enables us to offer our customers cutting-edge storage technology that complements our solar systems, delivering true energy independence at an affordable price.

From your experience, what sets AlphaESS products apart from other energy storage solutions in the market? Can you share a particularly interesting and successful installation story involving an AlphaESS system?

From our experience, reliability is what truly sets AlphaESS apart. Their systems are easy to commission, perform consistently over time and generate very few support issues, which speaks volumes. One standout project involved a full solar and storage system for a local Sheffield family aiming for near-total energy independence. The AlphaESS system integrated seamlessly, and 6 months on, their bills have dropped dramatically with zero technical issues reported. That’s the kind of performance we trust and stand behind.

How do you stay informed about the latest developments in the energy sector, and how do these trends impact your business strategies and the solutions you offer?

We stay informed through industry publications, events and trade shows, always keeping a close eye on the latest innovations and trends. This commitment ensures we offer our customers the most advanced and reliable products available. By staying connected to the industry, we maintain a competitive edge both commercially and technically allowing us to design smarter, more efficient renewable solutions that meet evolving needs.

What advice would you give to someone considering integrating battery energy storage into their home or business? How does AlphaESS facilitate this transition?

Our top advice? Start with a comprehensive assessment from a trusted local installer, rather than a large national company, to ensure your battery system is correctly sized and specified for your specific needs. Remember, your energy tariff is just as important as the hardware itself. AlphaESS supports us with expert product guidance and precise system sizing, helping us deliver tailored solutions that maximise savings and performance for every home and business.

Can the UK hit its Net Zero targets? If you were energy minister for the UK, what would you be doing?

Absolutely, yes – To truly cut emissions, we need to electrify homes and transport across the country. If I were energy minister, I’d focus on turning every home into a mini power station, boosting support for widespread solar PV and battery storage installations to empower people to generate and store their own clean energy.

Looking ahead, how do you see renewable energy and battery energy storage evolving in the UK’s energy landscape? What are your company’s plans for growth and adaptation in this changing environment?

Renewable energy and battery storage are poised to become integral components of the UK’s energy future, with demand growing rapidly as decarbonization takes priority. At EcoSheffield, we’re committed to growing alongside this shift, expanding our local expertise and service offering to meet rising demand while delivering smart, tailored solutions that help Sheffield and beyond transition to cleaner energy.

What message would you like to give to other installers or companies considering a partnership with AlphaESS UK?

If you’re building a long-term business, reliability must be a top priority. In our experience, there are few better battery storage solutions than those from AlphaESS, delivering consistent performance that protects your reputation and keeps customers satisfied.
